The Roanoke Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was established in May, 1939 in Roanoke, VA "The Star City of the South". The chapter celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2014.

For 75 years, the Roanoke Alumnae Chapter has played an ever increasing role in public service in the Roanoke area.  The chapter was instrumental in the formation of the first black Girl Scout troops, has contributed to such national projects and initiatives as the United Negro College Fund, the Ronald McDonald House and St. Jude's Hospital.

However it is on the local level that our work is most evident. Over the years the chapter's presence in Roanoke has grown to reflect our expansive  Five Point Programmatic Thrust in ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS, PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS and POLITICAL AWARENESS/SOCIAL ACTION.

Our educational programs, delivered in partnership with local school systems include the Delta Academy, EMBODI, Precious Pearls and Delta GEMS.  Our membership of approximately 100 women collectively and individually support at least a dozen schools in Roanoke City and County school systems.   For more information on our initiatives including a current drive to fund a water well for a school in Kenya, our annual scholarship program, voter registration campaign,  restoration of voting rights, health awareness fairs, mentoring training and our annual fundraiser Jabberwock, please click on "Programs" and "Current Events" tabs above.
